New year, same Bee
Happy New Years to you all! I’ll save you the corny resolutions and unrealistic expectations because I know that you know that I will likely not achieve them by just stating them. However, I do believe that 2018 is going to be a great year so I am looking forward to that.
So…quick update on my life since I have not been blogging as much as I said I would during my last years resolution :p
I’m currently on holidays, had a crazy semester, met a lot of great people, and of course not so great people. I’ve been working on a few projects here and there that I have been keeping on the hush, but I can’t wait to give more details when all is finalised.
We were literally the only black family in the entire town and many of the people who worked there never saw a black person before so you can imagine how that went. At first I would notice people constantly staring at me and I just brushed it off thinking it was because my outfits were so fly (haha). However soon after I was getting asked to take pictures with random people, families, kids, and we even got gifts from some who came back for more photos. The concept was very bizarre but I know they meant no harm by it, in fact they were in awe, so we just laughed about it and continued vacationing.
The upside to this was that I got to meet a lot of new and interesting people. The town was predominantly filled with Russians, Mongolians, Kazakhs, and of course Turks. I took some vodka shots with the Russians (had to) and practiced my little Mongolian over cocktails.
